The Penguins play host to the Flyers tonight at PPG Paints Arena. The team is looking for its fourth straight win and Sidney Crosby is looking to score his 500th career goal – and his 50th all-time against Philadelphia. The Penguins’ captain has scored more goals against the Flyers than against any other team.
Interestingly, only two players have more points against Philadelphia than Crosby’s 117, and both were Penguins. Mario Lemieux scored 124 points against the Flyers in his career and Jaromir Jagr scored 120.
The Pens are in first place in the NHL Metro Division. Their 68 points are one more than second-place Carolina and thirty more than the last-place Flyers. Coach Mike Sullivan says the Penguins have played so well coming out of the All-Star break because they are playing the right way.
Including last Sunday’s game against the Devils, the Penguins play seven of nine games against Metro Division teams. They are 7-2-1 against the division so far this season.
