The United Way of Indiana County is looking for local food and shelter programs to apply for over $150,000 in federal funding.
According to a news release, the United Way received $37,973 in federal funds from the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program, and another $117,364 from the American Rescue Plan Act. The funds will be administered by the Department of Homeland Security and will be given to local non-profit, faith based or governmental organizations that provide emergency food and shelter programs. The money can be used to supplement and expand the work of the local groups, including food and shelter programs and rent, mortgage and utility assistance programs.
