State police in Armstrong County are investigating a case of identity theft in Rural Valley Borough.
Troopers say that they were notified on February 10th at 5:45 PM. The victim, a 62-year-old man from Kittanning reported that someone had opened a checking account utilizing his identity. Nothing else of value was taken in this incident.
Police advise people to call the PA Fraud Hotline at 1-800-692-7469 or to go to the Unemployment Compensation website if they feel they are the victim of identity theft.
