Budget hearings get underway in Harrisburg this week before the House Appropriations Committee.
In his budget address last week, Governor Wolf proposed a fiscal plan that increases spending by about $6 billion, which Representative Jim Struzzi says creates “serious concerns”. Struzzi is a member of the Appropriations Committee.
The schedule this week includes the Department of Revenue, the Independent Fiscal Office, and the Department of Aging on Tuesday. The Corrections Department and General Services/Office of Administration will appear on Wednesday, and the Department of Community & Economic Development will follow on Thursday.
The Senate Appropriations Committee, of which Senator Joe Pittman is a member, will begin budget hearings next week.
