Pitt basketball news usually is all about Jeff Capel’s men’s team but yesterday the Pitt women’s team tied an all-time record by erasing a 32-point deficit and beating SMU by 13.
Pitt trailed, 46-14, late in the first half and was still behind by 31 at the break, but the Panthers outscored the Mustangs 28-0 in the third quarter and 26-10 in the fourth.
Mikayla Johnson scored 22 points and Khadija Faye scored 21 to lead the Pitt comeback win.
Capel’s Pitt men have lost two games in a row, to Duke and to Louisville. They’re back in action on Wednesday at Florida State on WCCS.
