Boston Bruins player Brad Marchand has appealed his six-game suspension for punching Pens Goalie Tristian Jarry.
Reports say that Marchand admitted that his attack on Jarry was, in his words, “Stupid” in talks with the Boston news media on Friday. But he maintains that the punch and the jab at Jarry with his stick as he left the ice did not warrant any suspension, let alone the six-game suspension he received. Marchand also pointed out that Jarry was not injured in the attack.
One of the reasons why Marchand’s suspension was so steep is because of his history with these sorts of incidents. He has been suspended eight times in his career and fined on five separate occasions.
