Pitt lost its second straight game, 82-78, to Louisville at the Petersen events Center on Saturday.
Four A 14-0 run near the end of the first half gave the Cardinals the lead, erasing an 18-10 deficit, and the game was close the rest of the way. Louisville led, 35-34, at the half and Pitt made it 73-72 in the closing minutes, but the Cardinals’ offensive rebounds and three-point shooting were too much for the Panthers. Louisville outrebounded the Panthers, 44-31, and grabbed 17 offensive boards.
Four players were in double figures for the Cardinals, led by Reyne Smith, who hit 7 three-pointers and scored 25 points. Pitt’s Jaland Lowe was 13-for-13 on free throws and led the Panthers with 24 points. Ishmael Leggett hit four three-pointers and finished with 16 points.
Pitt plays Florida State on Wednesday night.
