After a pair of postponements due to weather and poor conditions, the Homer-Center Wildcats opened their 2018 baseball season with a 4-0 win, defeating Blairsville at First Commonwealth Bank Field on Friday.
Nate Davis picked up the pitching win for Homer-Center, hurling six innings and giving up just three hits and three walks. Davis also claimed two of Homer-Center’s hits.
Homer-Center’s Jesse Lee knocked in the only run the Wildcats needed in the first inning. His single to left field brought in Corey Cavalier.
Adam Ratkus kept Blairsville in range, pitching four innings and giving up just two runs. Both starting pitchers struck out eight batters.
Kyle McConnell accounted for two of Blairsville’s hits.
Both teams are back in action on Monday. Blairsville (0-2) plays host to United and Homer-Center (1-0) travels to Saltsburg.
