Duke came out firing threes and pounded Pitt last night, 76-47, stopping the Panthers’ five-game winning streak and firmly establishing itself as the top team in the ACC.
Freshman Cooper Flagg scored 19 points, including two highlight dunks, one a breakaway over the top of Pitt’s seven-foot center Guillermo Diaz Graham and a few moments later on another monster dunk. All five Blue Devils starters scored in double figures.
Cam Corhen led the Panthers with 11 points and Pitt’s vaunted back court of Jaland Lowe and Ishmael Leggett combined for only 12, eight of them by Lowe, as they made only five of 27 shots. Damian Dunn returned to action for Pitt after his recovery from a dislocated thumb and came off the bench to score seven.
Pitt has another tough game on Saturday at the Petersen Events Center, hosting the 11-5 Louisville Cardinals, who won their fifth straight game last night, 74-64 over Clemson.
