Pennsylvania’s new junior U.S. Senator was sworn in yesterday.
Republican Dave McCormick defeated Democrat Bob Casey in the November election by a narrow margin. The margin was so close, it triggered an automatic recount. Two weeks after the election, Casey conceded the race.
In a prepared statement, McCormick thanked the citizens of Pennsylvania for their support in the election, saying that there is no higher honor than to serve as Senator, and he plans to “shake up Washington to deliver results on behalf of every Pennsylvanian.” He added that he is ready to work with the now-senior senator for Pennsylvania, John Fetterman.
McCormick will serve on five committees. They include the joint economic committee, aging, foreign relations, banking, and energy and natural resources.
