Indiana’s girls opened their January schedule with a road win over Greensburg Salem. Jake Slebodnick was there. (50-42 Indiana win.)
The boys took the court in the Heritage Conference, with Homer-Center leading wire-to-wire in their win over Purchase Line. Todd Marino has the recap. (61-36 HC win.)
United is 6-1 in the conference after a 76-65 win at Conemaugh Valley. United poured in 11 three-pointers, and after not shooting a free throw through the first three quarters, the Lions were 14-of-16 from the line in the fourth. Carter Payne led the way for United with 24 points. Dmitri Worthington scored 12 and Cole McGinnis 10. Four players hit double figures for the Blue Jays, led by Jeremy Dietz with 22. George Weimer had 13, Jaylen Henry 12 and Eric Korhut 10.
River Valley’s Max Persichetti scored 21 points and Nick Mortimer had 14 as the Panthers outlasted Marion Center, 59-53. River Valley came out of the locker room with a 9-0 run at the start of the third quarter, with Bryson McDowell scoring 7 of the 9. The Stingers did not provide their stats.
Nothing was reported on Penns Manor’s game against West Shamokin.

There are two Heritage Conference girls games on the air tonight.
On WCCS, Homer-Center looks for its first Heritage Conference win this season against Purchase Line, which is 3-3 in the conference. There is no JV game, so airtime is 6:15, tipoff at 6:30.
On Cat Country 106.3 FM, there’s a big Heritage Conference West game with 5-0 River Valley hosting 5-1 Marion Center. The airtime is 7:15.
The Heritage West standings have River Valley on top at 5-0, then Marion Center at 5-1 and Penns Manor at 4-1. Purchase Line and West Shamokin are both 3-3 and Homer-Center 0-6.
In the eastern half of the conference, the Road to the KCAC has Portage at 4-1 and Cambria Heights at 5-2. Conemaugh Township is 3-3, United is 2-2, Conemaugh Valley 0-6 and Northern Cambria 0-7.
