The Steelers’ injury situation is getting better.
Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. was a full practice participant yesterday, running back Jaylen Warren and wide receiver Ben Skowronek were limited but trending toward playing on Saturday against the Bengals, and three players out for the long term were finally back to work as well. Inside linebacker Cole Holcomb has not played this season after a devastating knee injury thirteen months ago; rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson was back from his hamstring injury; and defensive lineman Logan Lee returned from a calf injury suffered in the first week of the season. Holcomb remains on the Physically Unable to Perform list and Wilson and Lee are still on injured reserve.
Defensive lineman Cam Heyward says the Steelers’ need to play to their capabilities on Saturday night.
Heyward says the Bengals’ Joe Burrow leads an explosive offense that will be a handful for the Steelers.
Linebacker Elandon Roberts says if the Steelers play fundamental defense, the big plays and turnovers will come.
Roberts says Joe Burrow can throw as well as anybody, but he uses his legs, too.
Center Zach Wilson yesterday was named the winner of the Joe Greene Great Performance Award as the Steelers’ top rookie. Linebacker Alex Highsmith is this year’s recipient of The Chief Award for cooperation with the media.
