The Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners’ Wildlife Management Committee met virtually last week to discuss proposals for the 2025-26 hunting and trapping seasons.
Advanced recommendations include expanding “Ag Tag” seasons, increasing antlerless licenses in Wildlife Management Units 5C and 5D, limiting nonresident elk licenses, and requiring hunters to purchase a Pennsylvania hunting license before applying for an elk license. These will require board approval in January and April 2025.
Proposals not advanced included a general antlerless deer license for multiple units, early archery for antlerless deer, expanded muzzleloading options, fall turkey hunting with flintlock muzzleloaders, and changes to mentored youth big-game tag rules.
The committee’s recommendations aim to address wildlife management needs and will undergo further review by the full Board of Commissioners.
