In Florida, yesterday the Red Sox clobbered the Pirates, 12-6 in Grapefruit League play. In his second start at Spring Training, pitcher Joe Musgrove gave up six runs on eight hits in 4 innings. He’s behind schedule after missing several weeks with a sore arm. Minor leaguers Jordan Luplow, Bligh Madris, and Ke’Bryan Hayes homered in defeat. The Pirates play the Twins tonight at 6 o’clock. Trevor Williams will get the start.
The Bucs continue to pare down the roster as they prepare to break camp next week. They’re at 37 players, and need to get down to 25 for next Thursday’s season opener in Detroit. Yesterday, the team sent eight players to the minors. They included infielders Max Moroff, Pablo Reyes, Erich Weiss and Eric Wood, infielder/outfielder Chris Bostick, outfielder Todd Cunningham, pitchers Nick Kingham, Brett McKinney, Casey Sadler, and Johns Stilson, and catcher Jackson Williams.
