Former IUP coach Curt Cignetti is the Home Depot College Football Coach of the Year. He was honored last night at ESPN’s College Football Awards Show.
He certainly earned the award. Cignetti is the first Division I head coach to go 8-0 or better in two straight seasons at different schools. He started 10-0 at James Madison last year and 10-0 at Indiana this year. He’s the first Big Ten coach to start his conference career with a 10-0 mark since 1936.
Indiana will play in the first round of the College Football Playoff at 8 PM on December 20th, with the winner challenging Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day.
Penn State’s Tyler Warren was named the John Mackey Award winner as the best tight end in college football.
