A Seward man entered a guilty plea for a charge of homicide by vehicle while DUI this morning in Indiana County’s Court of Common Pleas.
District Attorney Robert Manzi said Patrick Thomas Walker plead guilty to that charge as well as a second DUI charge stemming from a crash on September 7, 2019, that killed Daniel Rodkey of Indiana.
Police say the crash happened in the 2100 block of Shellbark Road in East Wheatfield Township. When police arrived, they found a Tesla Model S in a wooded area with several trees damaged by the car. A beer can was found inside the car and major damage was reported on the passenger side of the car where Rodkey was sitting. He was found dead outside the vehicle under one of the front wheels.
Police identified Walker as the suspect as he was being treated on-scene. A legal blood draw taken at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center showed he had alcohol and amphetamine in his system at the time of the crash.
Walker will go for sentencing in February.
