The suspect accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson is fighting his return to New York and had an outburst with reporters.
As he was being forced into court in Pennsylvania yesterday, Luigi Mangione shouted.
Mangione’s lawyer, Altoona attorney Thomas Dickey, says he will be fighting extradition. New York Governor Kathy Hochul says she will sign a request for a governor’s warrant to bring Mangione back to New York to face the murder charge.
Dickey said everyone needs to remember that his client is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Mangione did not appear to display any signs of anger in the close to two years he lived in Hawaii, according to reports. People who knew Mangione in Hawaii have spoken with local reporters, all calling him friendly and intelligent. It’s still unclear what Mangione was doing in the six months after he left Hawaii earlier this year, when it appears he cut off contact with friends and family.
