PennDOT says multiple Indiana County roadways are closed today, with the combination of melting snow and continuing precipitation causing some flooding.
State Route 2013, which is known mainly as Wehrum Road, is closed in both directions between Mack Drive in Buffington Township and Plowman Road in East Wheatfield Township. It is estimated that the road will remain closed until 10 AM.
Flooding has also been reported by PennDOT on Simons Rock Road near Yellow Creek State Park. The road is closed between Route 259 and Old Mill Road. All lanes are closed and there’s no anticipated reopening time.
Also Route 954 in the Creekside area between Indiana Road and Chambersville road is closed in all directions due to flooding, and Route 56 between Union Flat Road and Overview Drive/Sportsman Club Road in Shelocta is restricted to one lane of traffic due to flooding issues.
It takes just two feet of fast-moving water to float a car. PennDOT warns that motorists who drive around a barrier that is intended to close a road can face increased fines if emergency responders have to be called to rescue them.
