BASKETBALL
Last night was the start of High School Basketball season and the Indiana Boys came out with a dominating win over Marion Center. Jake Slebodnick reports.
Also in Boy’s Basketball, River Valley lost their season opener to Deer Lakes 61-27. Max Persichetti lead the Panthers with 6 points. Nate Moore lead the Lancers with a game high 21 points. The Panthers return to action today against Highlands at 2:30.
Indiana Girls Basketball opened up their season with a 53-45 loss to Williamsburg. Laken Kugler led the Little Indians with 10, Julia Antonacci scored 9 points, Emily Betsinger added 8 of her own, Emily Ferraro had 7, Addy Hutton scored 6, and Sophiana Sidikou scored 5 points. Indiana is back in action tomorrow vs. Juniata Valley @ 6pm in the consolation game of the Forest Hills Tip-Off Tournament.
The Marion Center Girls beat Cambria Heights 50-24 at the Bishop Carrol Tip Off Tournament yesterday. Macie Miller had 14 points while Natalie Black had 11 points and 8 rebounds. Alivia Ruddock added 12 rebounds and 6 points. They will play the host school, Bishop Carrol today.
FOOTBALL
The Central Clarion Wildcats, the team that ended Cambria Heights season last week in the Class 2-A quarterfinals, continued to roll blasting WPIAL Champion South Park 55-0 Friday night at Farrell HS. The Wildcats, now 13-0, put the game into the mercy rule by the half leading 38-0. Star QB Jase Ferguson rushed for 7 touchdowns. Central Clarion will now face Troy HS Friday in the state championship game. Bishop Guilfoyle, the team that beat Northern Cambria in the District 6 championship game, advanced to the 1-A title game downing Muncy 21-6. BG will face Port Allegheny.
