The Steelers practiced on Thanksgiving Day with their game against the Bengals coming up on Sunday afternoon.
Defensive tackle Keeanu Benton was limited as he was added to the injury list with a hip ailment. Linebacker Alex Highsmith returned to practice as a limited participant. He’s missed the last two games with an ankle injury. Cornerback Corey Trice and defensive lineman Montravius Adams were limited as well. Both are still on injured reserve. Safety Damontae Kazee was out due to illness.
Having injured defensive players is not ideal with a game against the high-powered Bengals offense approaching.
Defensive lineman Cam Heyward says the Steelers have to find a way to pressure Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow.
Cornerback Donte Jackson says the combination of Joe Burrow and wide receiver Jamar Chase is as potent as it gets.
Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith says the University of North Carolina has contacted him about its head coaching vacancy and while he said “that’s not (his) focus” right now, he didn’t exactly say he isn’t interested. North Carolina fired head coach Mack Brown this week. Smith played his college football for the Tar Heels and spent a season there as a graduate assistant. He says he loves North Carolina, but he also loves being a Steeler and his family loves Pittsburgh.
