Purchase Line defeated Homer-Center, 63-59, in the Heritage Conference semifinals Monday night at Purchase Line High School.
With a berth in Friday’s Heritage Conference Championship on the line, the Wildcats played a spirited first half and took a 27-22 lead into the locker room at half time.
Purchase Line tilted the game back in its favor in the 3rd quarter, outscoring the ‘Cats, 18-6. All five Red Dragons scored in the frame and they took a 40-33 lead into the final quarter.
In the 4th, Homer-Center’s Tanner Yancy and Purchase Line’s Dominique Campbell took over. Yancy scored 13 points and Campbell scored 11 in the final quarter, with both players finishing with a game-high 20 points.
Homer-Center pulled within three points with 29 seconds remaining when Logan Williams drained a three-pointer, but Purchase Line hung on for the victory.
In addition to Dominique Campbell, the Red Dragons had three other players in double figures, as brother Shamar added 14, Jacob Barnett 13, and Melvin Sanchez 11.
Williams (11), Cobe Daugherty (11), and Jaden Evanick (10) joined Yancy in double figures.
Purchase Line and Ligonier Valley will meet Friday at approximately 8 pm in the Heritage Conference Championship game at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.
