The Heritage Conference “Road to the KCAC” journeys to Commodore and to Ligonier tonight, with the boy’s semifinals featuring the Homer Center Wildcats visiting the Purchase Line Red Dragons and the West Shamokin Wolves on the road against the Ligonier Valley Rams.
Heritage North number-one Purchase Line is 16-4 and 11-3 in the conference, coming off an upset loss to Marion Center on Friday night. The Red Dragons balanced scoring is led by four players in double figures…Melvin Sanchez averages 16.4 points per game, Dominique Campbell 14.1, Shamar Campbell 13.6 and Jacob Barnett 12.9. Homer Center is 13-5 and 10-3 in the conference. The Wildcats’ leading scorers are junior Tanner Yancy and senior Corey Cavalier.
Purchase Line beat Homer Center 74-52 last Monday night.
Heritage South top seed Ligonier Valley is 15-4, and 12-0 in the conference. They’re riding a ten-game winning streak that includes a 30-point win over West Shamokin two weeks ago. The Rams are led by junior center Marek Paola, who averages 25.4 points per game and sophomore guard Michael Marinchak, averaging 18.5.
West Shamokin is 9-8 and 7-6 in the conference. The Wolves are coming off two straight losses, to Purchase Line and Saltsburg. Their top scorers are junior Carson DeWitt and senior Drew Orlosky
Tonight’s Homer Center-Purchase Line game will be heard on 92.5 FM U92 at 6:45, with tipoff at 7. The West Shamokin-Ligonier Valley game will be on Cat Country, 106.3 FM, also at 6:45.
Tomorrow night, the Heritage girls’ semifinals will feature the Homer Center girls at Penns Manor and the West Shamokin girls at Blairsville.
The Heritage Conference championship night, presented by S&T Bank, is Friday night at the Kovalchick Complex.
