The IUP basketball teams rebounded from Monday’s losses at UPJ with a doubleheader sweep of Edinboro last night, and both by the same score…but it wasn’t easy for either team.
Jack Benedict reports.
The win was the 800th in IUP women’s basketball program history. Coach Tom McConnell says they still committed far too many turnovers (a season-high 26) but he says they are getting exactly what they need right now: games, after having to take an extended period of time off for covid.
Men’s coach Joe Lombardi says the season becomes a grind at this point, with a heavy schedule of games and players out with injury and illness, but they have to fight through it.
The Crimson Hawks have another tough doubleheader coming up on Saturday as Mercyhurst visits the KCAC. They will follow that up with the men hosting Slippery Rock on Monday while the women visit Cal U.
