The IUP basketball teams split a doubleheader at Mercyhurst Saturday. The women lost for only the second time this season, 66-61, after having beaten the Lakers by 51 points just three weeks ago. the IUP men won, 67-65 on a shot by sophomore Malik Miller with 1.7 seconds left.
In high school girls’ basketball, Blairsville beat Bishop Guilfoyle, 53-46 as Rena Enterline scored 23 points. West Shamokin topped Karns City, 57-36, with Olivia Fusaro scoring 22 and Shelby Clowser 16.
The Pittsburgh Penguins’ break continues following Thursday’s 6-3 win over the Minnesota Wild.
