The Pennsylvania Senate on Tuesday approved a bill that will allocate $225 million to hospitals across the state, including Indiana Regional Medical Center.
Under House Bill 253, the money would be used for the retention and recruitment programs for hospital staff. Out of the $225 million, about $2.5 million will be headed towards the 41st senatorial district, which is served by Senator Joe Pittman. $1,199,802 will go to Indiana Regional Medical Center, while another $920,115 will go to the Armstrong Center for Medicine and Health, and $354,158 will go to Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
In a statement, Pittman called the funding “an effort to support frontline healthcare professionals who have sacrificed so much for our communities, especially over these past two years.”
The bill heads back to the State House for approval.
