The IUP basketball teams open their seasons this weekend, the men taking the court tonight on the road while the women begin at home tomorrow. Jack Benedict has a preview of the action.
Men’s coach Joe Lombardi says it isn’t ideal for his very young team to have to play some tough competition on the road to start the season, but he hopes it’s a learning experience.
After this weekend’s games, the IUP men travel to Ashland, Ohio next Saturday and Sunday to play Tiffin and Ashland. The women will be off until November 18th, when they will host Penn State Beaver in the annual Education Day game.
PITT BASKETBALL
The 1-0 Pitt Panthers host Murray State tonight. The Racers wiped out Bethel, Tennessee, 113-37, on Monday. Pitt beat Radford, 96-56.
The game tips off at 7 o’clock. We’re on the air on WCCS at 6:30.
