The Pirates yesterday reinstated pitchers Johan Oviedo, Hunter Stratton, and Dauri Moreta, to the 40-man roster, along with catcher/infielder Endy Rodriguez. All had been on the 60-day injured list. They declined the option on pitcher Marco Gonzalez and removed pitchers Ben Heller, Daulton Jefferies, and Isaac Mattson from the roster.
The Bucs also claimed outfielder Trey Cabbage off waivers from the Astros. He hit .209 last season with 11 doubles, two home runs, and 15 RBIs in 67 games.
Former Pirates superstar Dave “The Cobra” Parker is one of eight finalists nominated by the Classic Baseball Era Committee for induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. One player can be selected. The other finalists are Dick Allen, Luis Tiant, Ken Boyer, John Donaldson, Steve Garvey, and Tommy John, along with Negro league star Vic Harris, who played for the Homestead Grays. The result of the final vote will be announced December 9th.
