With a week to go before the presidential election, today marks the final deadline for mail-in ballots.
Voters have until the end of business today to apply for the mail-in ballot. They can find out more at vote.pa.gov, or can apply in person for one at the Indiana County Election Office at the County Courthouse. Those applying in person are reminded that it may be busier than normal at the office, so patience may be needed.
Pennsylvania’s secretary of state Al Schmidt is asking also for people to be on the lookout for misinformation. He said that the amount of election lies is his biggest concern as several fake stories about voter fraud have been circulating online. Those stories range from mail-in ballots being destroyed in Bucks County to nuns in Erie being accused of voter fraud. He said that misinformation is something that will continue to be prevalent in the coming weeks.
The website vote.pa.gov also has a fact checker that can provide proper information on elections.
