The Penguins no longer are traveling with three goaltenders. They sent Tristan Jarry back to Pittsburgh yesterday to continue working on his game. The team, meanwhile, is in Edmonton to face the Oilers tonight. The Pens have lost three straight games, including Tuesday night’s shootout loss in Calgary.
The high-scoring Oilers have stumbled to a 2-5 start but Pens coach Mike Sullivan knows they’re a dangerous team.
Jarry is 1-1 with a 5.47 goals-against average so far this young season and has been a healthy scratch the last two games. He will stay in Pittsburgh to work with director of goaltending Jon Elkin.
Sullivan says Jarry’s return to Pittsburgh was part of a plan all along, and he is good with it.
The Pens will play on back-to-back nights, visiting Vancouver tomorrow. Faceoff tonight in Edmonton is shortly after 9 PM. We will join the action on 92.5 FM U92 as soon as the Cambria Heights/Penns Manor football broadcast concludes.
