The game was a bit of an old-fashioned affair as the Penguins were forced to answer Ottawa’s aggressive style with some force. Brian Dumoulin and the Senators’ Josh Norris fought, John Marino and Brady Tkachuk mixed it up, and Kris Letang tussled with Alex Formenton.
Sullivan says the Penguins expect that teams will make runs at them to try to get them off their game.
Winger Bryan Rust says the Penguins don’t mind when teams try to get rough with them.
Defenseman Mike Matheson, who scored two goals for the Pens last night, says they can’t afford to be sloppy with the puck in the neutral zone.
Just a day after enjoying an almost completely healthy team in practice, the Penguins lost two players yesterday. Forward Jason Zucker re-aggravated his lower body injury and is “week-to-week”, according to Sullivan, after he returned from long-term injured reserve and scored two goals just this past Monday in Las Vegas. Goaltender Louis Domingue took a puck off his right foot in practice yesterday morning and was scratched as the backup to Tristan Jarry last night.
