It was a travel day for the Penguins yesterday so the team had the day off for the move from Calgary to Edmonton where they play the Oilers tomorrow night.
The Pens’ performance on the blue line has been questionable at best during the team’s three-game losing streak, but a former Pittsburgh defenseman who was on the market is not the answer. Justin Schultz has signed on with HC Lugano, a team in Switzerland’s National League. The 12-year NHL veteran played for Seattle last season, scoring seven goals with 19 assists and posting a plus/minus of minus-23. He’s a minus-57 for his career.
Another former Penguin is out of the NHL. Forward Conor Sheary was put on waivers by Tampa Bay yesterday.
