What a day yesterday for West Shamokin’s Alex Talmadge, the District 6 champion who fired a four under par 68 at the Penn State Blue Course and surged from twelfth to a fifth place finish in the individual PIAA 2A championship.
Nick Werner of Wyoming Seminar won the championship with a two-round total of six under par. There was a three-way tie for second at four under, then Talmadge, in fifth at two under. He bogeyed the first and third holes but then drew even with birdies on 4 and 5. He dropped a shot at 11, but picked it back up with birdies on 12, 13, and 16, and finished in spectacular fashion with an eagle 3 on 18, his second eagle in two days.
River Valley’s Jake Pynos finished in a five-way tie for 18th at six over par. River Valley’s Jeremy Reed and West Shamokin’s Gunnar Shoop finished in a tie for 64th at 29 over and West Shamokin’s Logan Geist was in 68th at 31 over.
