Gas prices are holding steady despite a lack of demand from customers.
Triple-A reports this morning that the national average cost for a gallon of gasoline is $3.32 a gallon, which is a two cent increase from last week and last month. Experts say that gas prices remain high due to the high cost of crude oil, which has gone above the $80 a barrel mark. The primary reason for the rise in crude oil prices may be the perception that the omicron variant of Covid-19 is beginning to ebb, and that has allowed some of the world’s economies to go back into action.
Pennsylvania’s average is currently $3.52 a gallon. While gas prices held steady over the last week, it’s three cents lower than where it was last month at this time. Indiana County’s average as of this morning is slightly under the state average at $3.50 a gallon. That ties it with Westmoreland and Armstrong Counties. The lowest average in our region is Jefferson County at $3.42 a gallon. Clearfield County has $3.49 a gallon average this morning and the highest in the region is Cambria County with the average at $3.54 a gallon.
Sullivan County in the northeast corner of the state has the highest county-wide average at $3.60 a gallon, while Union County has the lowest at $3.37 a gallon.
Gas prices in Indiana and Shelocta this morning are $3.53 a gallon according to Gasbuddy.com.. Clymer has gas at $3.47 a gallon. Homer City is reporting slightly lower gas prices at $3.45 a gallon. Gas prices in Blairsville range from $3.43 a gallon to $3.45 a gallon, depending on which gas station you use.
