The Penguins are hoping to build some momentum after a shootout win over Columbus on Wednesday, but they have some holes to fill for tonight’s game at Carolina, as several players went down with injuries against the Blue Jackets.
Yesterday, the team called up four players from the minors and put three on Injured Reserve. Chad Ruhwedel, Kris Letang, and Bryan Rust will have to miss at least a week, and Justin Schulz has been out since December 5th. The losses of Ruhwedel, Letang, and Schulz take the Penguins’ only three right-handed defensemen out of the lineup. One of the call-ups, Frankie Corrado, is a right-handed defenseman. Blue-liner Andrey Pedan, winger Garrett Wilson, and goalie Casey DeSmith were also added to the roster.
Goaltender Matt Murray with miss tonight’s game with an upper body injury. Tristan Jarry will start in goal.
The airtime for the Penguins and Hurricanes tonight on U92.5 FM is 6:30, powered by the Locker Room at Diamond Medical Supply, Oakland Avenue in Indiana.
