The Penguins had to overcome a rough first period, but they did, beating Columbus, 5-4 in a shootout last night in Pittsburgh.
Sidney Crosby scored the deciding goal. Evgeni Malkin also converted a shootout attempt and added a goal and two assists in regulation for the Pens. Malkin and Jake Guentzel each scored in the final six-minutes of the third period to force overtime. Phil Kessel and Conor Sheary had the other goals in the winning effort.)
The Pens begin a three-game road trip tomorrow at Carolina.
