It is Week Nine of high school football, and there are some key games tonight that impact the District 6 rankings.
One of those games is River Valley’s visit to Northern Cambria. Both teams are 7-1 and in second place in their respective classifications, the Panthers in AA and the Colts in Class A. You’ll hear it on Cat Country 106.3 FM and be able to watch it on Renda Digital TV.
Colts coach Sam Shutty says River Valley can do it all offensively and defensively.
Shutty says there will be plenty of energy at Duffy Daugherty Field.
River Valley coach Jess Houser knows how big this game is.
Houser says the Panthers will have to find a way to stop Colts quarterback Ty Dumm.
On 92.5 FM U92, 5-3 Marion Center will host 5-3 Penns Manor. Both teams are fighting for position in the district rankings, with the Stingers holding the eighth and final slot in AA while the Comets sit sixth in Class A.
Marion Center coach Adam Rising says it’s always a fight trying to stop Penns Manor’s offense.
Penns Manor’s Bill Packer says Marion Center is impressive.
On WCCS and Renda Digital TV, 2-6 Homer-Center welcomes 3-5 Portage. The banged-up Wildcats will need a lot of help in their final two games to jump from tenth to eighth and qualify for the Class A playoffs. The Mustangs are currently seventh.
Homer-Center coach Greg Page will have 32 percent of his opening night roster sidelined, but he says it’s a night to honor his seniors.
Page says the Mustangs have a lot of offensive firepower.
Portage coach Marty Slanoc is hoping for mistake-free football.
The other Heritage Conference games are first place 8-0 Cambria Heights hosting 0-8 West Shamokin, 5-3 United Valley welcoming 2-6 Purchase Line, and 3-5 Conemaugh Township at 1-7 Conemaugh Valley.
Our coverage of River Valley/Northern Cambria on Cat Country and Renda Digital TV, and of Homer-Center/Portage on WCCS and Renda Digital, begins with the Indiana Total Therapy pregame at 6:15. Marion Center/Penns Manor on U92 begins at 6:30.
