The presence of Juju Smith-Shuster at practice the last few days has been an emotional boost, according to reports.
Smith-Shuster was cleared to practice off injured reserve earlier this week. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said yesterday that Smith-Shuster’s return gave “a big boost to everybody,” while running back Najee Harris said after Friday’s practice that “to see (Smith-Shuster) back at practice, after (so long), obviously, everyone is pretty energized.”
The Steelers are keeping quiet, however, on if they think he will be able to play on Sunday night in Kansas City. The deadline to announce the playoff rosters is 4:00 PM today, so there is still the possibility that he could play. His return did open a 21-day window for him to be activated. Smith-Shuster has been out for most of the season after undergoing a “season-ending” surgery on his right shoulder.
The Steelers play the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday night at 8:15. You can hear it starting at 6:15 PM on WDAD 100.3 FM and AM 1450.
