The State System of Higher Education Board of Governors held their quarterly meeting Thursday morning in Harrisburg, and it marked the final task for Chancellor Dan Greenstein.
Greenstein will join tax and advisory firm Baker Tilly on November 1st after six years with the state system. Through teary eyes, Greenstein addressed the board one final time, highlighting accomplishments the State System endured during his tenure, notably the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that experience proves that change is possible in secondary education.
Greenstein also thanked the board for their cooperation over his six years and wished interim chancellor Dr. Chris Fiorentino the best of luck as he takes over.
Among agenda items was the overview of PASSHE’s capital spending plan for the next five academic years. IUP’s five-year total comes out to approximately $223,289, which is the third-highest total. Factored into that total is $20,000 that will be dispersed in the 2026-27 school year.
The board also re-approved IUP student Abigail Hancox as a student member. She completed her undergraduate degree in May, but re-enrolled in graduate school this fall.
