Reports are now saying that the injury Ryan Shazier suffered Monday night during the Steelers/Bengals game may be more serious than first thought.
The Steelers announced on Tuesday that Shazier’s injury would not have required surgery, but that changed on Thursday, when the Steelers announced Shazier would undergo surgery at UPMC. Dr. Anthony Alessi, who is a consultant for the NFL Players Association, said that Shazier would be out for the rest of the season, but it was a strong possibility that he may never play football again.
Vince Williams will take Shazier’s place in the lineup and call the defensive plays at the line of scrimmage. Williams paid tribute to Shazier by wearing his jersey number during practice this week.
You can hear the game on WDAD starting at 6:30 with the pre-game show.
