After Saturday’s last-minute 33-32 loss to Slippery Rock, IUP has dropped from 21st to 25th in the AFCA Division II football coaches poll. Slippery Rock gained three spots, to number six.
Last night on Hawk Talk on U92 and Renda Digital TV, coach Paul Tortorella was upbeat, while acknowledging that IUP dug itself a very deep hole at the start of the game. Tortorella was proud of the effort.
IUP is 4-1 and preparing to face Edinboro, which is only 1-4 but will be rested, returning from a week off after a 28-23 loss to Slippery Rock. Tortorella says his former defensive backs and special teams coach, Jake Nulph, has worked hard to turn around Edinboro since taking over as head coach four years ago.
The coach says Edinboro plays well in every facet of the game, and is especially excellent on special teams.
IUP and Slippery Rock are two of three PSAC teams in the coaches poll this week. Kutztown is ranked fifth.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
