Another Indiana County school district is considering establishing an after-school program for its students and is seeking input from the public.
The Purchase Line School District is asking parents to let them know if they have interest in programming for children in grades 3 through 6, starting in February. The program would operate Monday through Thursday on days when school is in session, from the time the school day is over until five o’clock. The district would provide transportation.
Students would get a snack, homework assistance, tutoring, and activities to help them both academically and emotionally. Students would not be required to attend all four days but they must attend on days the parents select.
With the Evergreen Afterschool program unable to continue providing after-school activities, districts are hoping to pick up the slack Evergreen provided. River Valley this month started its own after-school program.
After Purchase Line determines the interest in the program and if it decides to move forward, the district will send out enrollment forms. The district is asking parents to fill out a form available on its website by January 18th.
