At yesterday’s meeting, the Indiana County Commissioners approved receiving $244,586 in grant money to upgrade technology for law enforcement agencies and to boost step-down programs for inmates released from the county jail.
The grant was a collaborative effort between the DA’s office, Indiana Borough Police, Blairsville Borough Police and the county probation department. The grant focuses on improving hardware and software that will be used by police in Indiana, Blairsville and Clymer boroughs, and the Indiana County Detectives Bureau from the DA’s office. It will also allow the DA’s office to buy digital evidence management software, add software for Indiana Borough Police and to upgrade software used by the probation department.
In a statement, District Attorney Robert Manzi said that the necessary upgrades to technology will support the goal of reducing crime and making the community safer.
