One firefighter was hurt during a fire Wednesday night in White Township.
Indiana, Homer City, Coral-Graceton and Creekside fire departments along with Citizens Ambulance and the county’s hazmat team were dispatched at 8:59 PM to a home on Hickory Lane. Fire was seen coming out of the eaves of the house. The fire started in a back corner of the house, possibly on the porch.
No one was inside the house at the time, but Indiana 3rd Assistant Chief Bob Henry did confirm a firefighter suffered a minor injury.
The firefighter had fallen through an open stairway and suffered a hand injury. During recent renovations on the house, the walls surrounding the basement steps were removed, leaving the stairwell open on all sides.
State police fire marshals were contacted, but it’s believed the fire was electrical in nature.
