The Heritage Conference Golf team titles yesterday went to West Shamokin’s boys and the Portage girls.
West Shamokin shot a combined 315 to beat Conemaugh Township by three strokes and River Valley by 15. Alex Talmadge fired a two under 69 to take home the medalist honors. Gunnar Shoop shot a 75 for third place, and Logan Geist shot 81. It was the fourth championship in the last five years for the Wolves.
River Valley’s Jake Pynos finished second with a 74 and Jeremy Reed was fourth with a 76.
Portage won the girls’ championship, led by medalist Bailey Patalune’s 88, which earned her medalist honors. No other scores were provided for the Mustangs. Homer-Center’s Ava King was fourth with a 96. River Valley had four girls in the top six. Led by Maren Dunlap’s third place finish with a 94. Ashley Pynos was 5th, with a 102 and Madigan Dunlap shot 104 to finish 6th.
The Indiana girls finished their season in style with a 1-stroke win over Kiski Area at the Apollo Elks Country Club. Izabella Slagle and Liliana Manzi shot matching 52s to lead the way with Lelise Allison and Laken Kugler each shooting 59. The two of them just took up golf for the first time in July. Match medalist was Kiski’s Riley Musco, with a 49.
It was the final match in the careers of seniors Slagle, Bella Donatelli, and Isabella Garland.

Indiana had a showdown game against Armstrong last night and they blitzed the Riverhawks, 6-1.
