CROSS COUNTRY
A cross country tri-meet featuring the top three teams in the Heritage Conference yesterday, with the Marion Center girls besting United and Portage and United’s girls topping Portage.
On the boys side, United came out on top over Marion Center and Portage, while the Stingers topped the Mustangs.
The top five boys were Colton Henning and Matt Beaver of United, Seth Boring of Marion Center, and Logan Gentile and Ayden Westover of Portage.
The top five girls were Payton Kolarek of United, Brooke Slade and Macie Miller of Marion Center, Sara Gornick of United, and Josephine Waite of Portage.
JUNIOR HIGH FOOTBALL
Indiana Junior High cruised to a 38-16 win over Derry. Jace Brocious threw for two touchdowns and ran for another. Anaken Powell had a big day, catching a 6-yard touchdown pass, running for scores from two yards and 60 yards, and adding a two-point conversion. Gavin Walker caught a 16-yard TD pass, and the Indians also got two-point conversions from Marlan Byers, Charles Spells, and Ben Cowburn. Gabe Garzarelli had a sack and Jahmir Reason recovered a fumble as Indiana improved to 2-1.
VARSITY FOOTBALL
The PIAA SCENE, a new YouTube video feature of the PIAA, is celebrating Homer-Center kicker Brady Frazer record 46-yard field goal against Penns Manor on September 6th.
