State police have charged a Saltsburg man with attempted arson in connection with an incident last Thursday in Saltsburg Borough.
Troopers were called out on September 12th at 12:27 PM to a home at 714 Salt Street for a disturbance involving a former resident of the house, 46-year-old Casey Kern Bush. As Troopers searched the house, they found Bush fled the scene but poured diesel fuel and paint throughout the house. Troopers also found several burned-out cigarettes on the floor where the fuel and paint were spilled. Troopers called the Saltsburg and Tunnelton-Conemaugh Fire Departments and the Indiana County HAZMAT team to clean up.
Bush was found that afternoon in Loyalhanna Township, Westmoreland County by Troopers from the Kiski Valley barracks and was taken into custody without incident. Police said that Bush had the same color paint on his clothes and smelled of diesel fuel. He was arraigned in front of Judge Anthony Sottile on charges of arson, reckless burning, risking a catastrophe, criminal mischief, two counts of possession of an explosive or incendiary material, reckless endangerment, burglary, disorderly conduct and a summary vehicle count. He is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
He was also wanted on a warrant for an incident in May of this year for three counts of terroristic threats. He was unable to post $25,000 bail in that case.
