In a national TV interview after Saturday’s 38-34 win over West Virginia in the Backyard Brawl, Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi was highly critical of the officiating, drawing an angry response from Mountaineers coach Neal Brown, and yesterday costing himself a $5,000 fine from the ACC. Narduzzi was unhappy with Pitt’s twelve penalties for 112 yards lost, and with perceived penalties against West Virginia that Pitt did not get.
For the second straight game, Pitt erased a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter to win. According to ESPN, the Panthers had been 0-72 since 2005 when trailing by ten or more points in the final quarter before the comebacks against Cincinnati last week and WVU on Saturday.
