The Purchase Line school board Monday night unanimously voted against the River Valley School District’s withdrawal from the Indiana County Technology Center.
Superintendent Patricia Berezansky said one of the main reasons for the board’s decision was the potential financial impacts on all members districts, including Purchase Line. She said the district could possibly see a $65,000 hit if any district, not just River Valley, withdrew from ICTC.
Berezansky adds the board made the decision in the best interest of all students within the county.
Following up on that, Berezansky listed several ways ICTC positively impacts students during school and after graduation.
In a related motion, the board approved hiring Pittsburgh-based attorney Ira Weiss to represent the district in partnership with the joint operating committee of the ICTC in any legal proceeding with River Valley, as several of their board members recently indicated their willingness to take the issue to court if necessary.
