As people ring out 2021 and ring in 2022, alcohol may be a factor in those celebrations, and state police are reminding people that troopers will be out tonight to make sure that roadways are safe.
State police patrols will be beefed up for New Year’s Eve, as troopers will be on the lookout for impaired, aggressive and distracted drivers. State police spokesperson Corporal Brent Miller says people should not be drinking and driving, but if holiday plans include alcohol, people should have a plan to get home safely.
Miller added that motorists should call 9-1-1 to report a suspected drunk driver.
We here at your hometown stations wish you the best in 2022, but please be careful tonight. A fatal crash on New Year’s Eve is something we don’t want to report on as part of our New Year’s Day coverage.
