After Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger admitted yesterday that Monday night’s game against the Browns will very likely be his last regular season game at Heinz Field, and probably his last game there ever, tributes to Big Ben poured in from across the football world, including from Cleveland.
Browns cornerback Denzel Ward said it’s “definitely an honor” to play against Big Ben. Quarterback Baker Mayfield said he has “nothing but respect” for the Steelers QB, and coach Kevin Stefanski said that while Big Ben is obviously a great player, his focus is on trying to stop him, because, “He’s still playing at a really high level.”
Roethlisberger said yesterday that his focus is on the game Monday night, too.
The 18-year Steelers’ quarterback says his competitive fire is still burning hot.
Wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud says that Big Ben’s teammates will be fired up Monday night.
At practice yesterday, center Kendrick Green sat out with a calf injury and rookie linebacker Buddy Johnson also remained out with a foot injury. Punter Pressley Harvin III remained away from the team due to the death of his father.
Tight end Pat Freiermuth returned from his concussion and was a full participant, as was defensive lineman Chris Wormley, who missed last Sunday’s game with a groin injury.
Cornerback Arthur Maulet was added to the Steelers covid list and linebacker/safety Marcus Allen returned from the list. The Steelers currently have Maulet, linebacker Devin Bush, offensive tackle Zach banner, running back Anthony McFarland Jr., and defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs on the covid list.
